HELICAL PIER CONSTRUCTION
Helical Piers are
end bearing steel piers that are screwed into the ground to
provide foundation support and earth anchoring for the following applications:
• The use of Helical Piers to construct deep foundation for new construction.
• Underpinning and lifting, if appropriate, distressed structures using Helical
Piers.
• Subsurface anchors for floating boat docks.
• Foundations for structures over water such as piers and walkways.
• Retaining wall support using the Helical Pier as either a soil nailing system
or as a
ground anchor tie back.
• Slope stability using the Helical Pier as either a soil nailing system or as
a ground
anchor tie back.
The Helical Piers can be either square solid steel bars with an ultimate
end
bearing compression or tension pier capacity ranging from 40 kips to 200 kips,
or a round
tube steel Helical Pier with an ultimate end bearing compression or tension
pier capacity
ranging from 36 kips to 138 kips. The Helical Piers are screwed into the soil
using drive
heads. Our current drive head can develop up to 12,000 ft-lbs torque. The
Helical Pier
capacity can be estimated with empirically developed relationships between
torque and
ultimate pile capacity
